Replacement part guides

Pick the product. Each guide covers the parts makers commonly remake, the materials that suit them, what to try before ordering, and the parts to leave to certified suppliers.

Mechanic's hands working on parts in a car engine bay

Car parts

Interior clips, trim pieces, knobs, covers and small brackets that dealers no longer stock, or only sell inside a costly assembly. Safety parts stay with certified suppliers.

Engine bay of a classic car

Classic car parts

When the part went out of production decades ago, a maker can often remake interior trim, knobs, clips and small brackets from your worn original.

Motorbike parts

Fairing clips, side-panel tabs, covers, caps and small brackets for bikes whose dealer parts have gone. Anything that keeps the bike on the road stays original.

Technician repairing a home appliance part on a workbench

Appliance parts

Rack wheels, door catches, shelf supports, knobs and covers for washing machines, dishwashers, fridges, ovens and vacuums. Check the manufacturer first: in the EU many must stock parts.

Technician repairing a coffee machine in a workshop

Kitchen gadget parts

Lid catches, knobs, feet, drip-tray parts and holders for coffee machines, blenders, mixers and other small kitchen appliances. Heat, water and food contact set the limits.

Bike and e-bike parts

Mounts, cable guides, covers, caps and bottle-cage adapters are fair game. Stems, bars, seatposts, forks, brakes and e-bike battery parts are not.

Hand repairing a smartphone with a small screwdriver

Electronics parts

Battery doors, stands, feet, button caps, hinge covers and clips for TVs, laptops, remotes, consoles and small gadgets. The electronics and mains parts stay original.

Audio and hi-fi parts

Knobs, slider caps, feet, cassette doors, turntable hinges and dust-cover parts for hi-fi you want to keep. Matching the look matters as much as the fit.

Camera parts

Battery and card doors, port covers, hot-shoe caps, lens caps, grips and adapters for digital and film cameras. Optics and electronics stay with camera repairers.

Musical instrument parts

Control knobs, switch tips, cavity and battery covers, synth slider caps, keyboard parts and case fittings. Structural and acoustic parts are a job for a luthier or technician.

Screwdrivers and dowel pins on furniture assembly instructions

Furniture fittings

Connectors, feet and glides, shelf supports, hinge covers, end caps and drawer-runner parts for furniture that is out of production. Heavy loads and childcare items stay certified.

Garden tools hanging on a wooden shed wall

Garden and power-tool parts

Grass-box clips, cord hooks, covers, knobs, handle grips and storage clips for mowers, trimmers and power tools. Guards and blades stay original.

Red board game piece among blue game pieces

Toy and game parts

Missing board game pieces, model railway and model kit parts, battery covers and clips for toys for older children and adults. Nothing for babies or toddlers.

Mooring rope tied around a cleat on a boat deck

Boat and marine parts

Hatch clips, line guides, instrument and switch covers, cup holders and interior fittings. Sunlight and salt water demand the right material; anything keeping the boat afloat stays certified.

Caravan and RV parts

Locker catches, blind and curtain parts, vent covers, table fittings, step caps and trim for caravans, campers and RVs. Gas, electrics, towing and structural parts stay certified.

Plumbing and heating trim

Knobs, handles, covers, caps and dials for taps, showers, radiator valves and thermostats that are no longer made. Anything that holds water pressure, gas or mains power stays with a plumber or engineer.
