Getting toy and game parts remade
Missing board game pieces, model railway and model kit parts, battery covers and clips for toys for older children and adults. Nothing for babies or toddlers.

A board game with one missing piece, a model railway with a broken coupling or a remote-control car with a lost battery cover is often otherwise fine. The existing Spool List spare-parts guide lists toy and model parts, including missing pieces for toys, model railways and board games, among typical jobs.
Toys are also where safety rules are strictest. In the EU, toys for children under 14 come under a new Toy Safety Regulation, (EU) 2025/2509, which applies from 1 August 2030 and replaces the current directive (Intertek, December 2025). Keep remade parts to games and models for older children and adults.
Parts makers commonly remake
- Board game pieces, tokens, dice towers and inserts
- Model railway couplings, buffers and lineside details
- Model kit and scale-model parts
- Battery covers for toys and remote controls
- Remote-control car body clips, bumpers and wheel hubs (non-structural)
- Puzzle and construction-set connectors for older children
Materials and processes
Resin
Fine detail for game pieces and model parts.
PETG
Durable clips and covers.
Nylon
Couplings and parts that flex.
TPU
Bumpers and tyres for models.
Don't have these remade
- Anything for babies and children under 3, including rattles, teethers and small parts that could be swallowed
- Ride-on toys' structural, steering or braking parts
- Battery compartments for button cells that need a child-resistant fixing
- Cot, playpen, high chair and car-seat parts
- Trademarked characters and logos you don't have permission to copy
Buy certified originals for these and have them fitted by a qualified person. The safety page explains why.
Try these first
- Contact the game publisher or toy brand: many send missing pieces.
- Check second-hand copies of the same game or set.
- For model railways, check the manufacturer's spares and specialist shops.
If nobody sells the part at a sensible price, a maker is the next step.
Good to know
Game artwork and character designs are usually protected. A plain replacement token is different from copying a branded figure; makers may ask.
What to put in your post
- Game or toy name, edition and the piece's name.
- Photos of a matching piece if you have one, with a ruler.
- The age of the children who will use it.
- Photos from every side with a ruler in shot, and the measurements that matter. The measuring guide shows how.
Step by step: find the model number, measure the part and photograph it for a quote.
