Getting furniture fittings remade
Connectors, feet and glides, shelf supports, hinge covers, end caps and drawer-runner parts for furniture that is out of production. Heavy loads and childcare items stay certified.
Post your part — free Posting is free. You pay only if you accept a maker's quote.

Flat-pack and older furniture fails at the fittings: a plastic connector cracks, a foot goes missing, a drawer runner stop snaps. When the range is discontinued, the fitting is often the only thing standing between a usable cupboard and a tip run.
EU rules for furniture are on the way but not yet in force: the first working plan under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation lists furniture for about 2028 (April 2025). Until then, nobody is obliged to keep furniture fittings in stock.
Parts makers commonly remake
- Plastic connectors, dowel caps and cam-lock covers
- Feet, glides and levelling caps
- Shelf supports and pins (for ordinary shelf loads)
- Hinge covers and caps
- Drawer-runner stops, end pieces and handles
- Tube end caps for chairs and tables
- Bed-slat holders and cable organisers
Materials and processes
PETG
Most indoor fittings.
Nylon
Runner parts, glides and anything that slides or wears.
TPU
Soft feet and bumpers that protect floors.
Machined aluminium or steel
Connectors and supports that carry more load.
Don't have these remade
- Wall-anchoring and anti-tip fittings for wardrobes and chests
- Cot, high chair, bunk bed and stair-gate parts
- Supports for heavy shelving overhead
- Office-chair gas lifts, bases and their fixings
- Bed frames' load-bearing brackets
Buy certified originals for these and have them fitted by a qualified person. The safety page explains why.
Try these first
- Check the retailer's spare-parts service: some large furniture retailers send fittings for free or at low cost.
- Look up the part number in the assembly instructions.
- Try hardware shops for generic equivalents.
If nobody sells the part at a sensible price, a maker is the next step.
Good to know
The Spool List's spare-parts guide lists furniture fittings (hinges, feet, connectors and caps) among typical jobs. Say what the fitting holds and how much it weighs, so the maker can pick a material.
What to put in your post
- Retailer and range name, and the part number from the instructions if listed.
- Hole diameter and depth, and the board thickness.
- What the fitting carries and how much weight.
- Photos from every side with a ruler in shot, and the measurements that matter. The measuring guide shows how.
Step by step: find the model number, measure the part and photograph it for a quote.
